Michael Phillips is well known for his accurate depictions of birds and other wildlife in their natural environment.  The amazing, lifelike details draw the viewer in for a closer look.

Michael has successfully represented Trinidad & Tobago in the sport of cycling for 14 years. Throughout his cycling career he has received many accolades, nationally, regionally and internationally and has set records which are unbroken to this day.

His flagship event The Beacon Insurance West Indies vs. The World Cycling Series has been hosted for many consecutive seasons and has achieved international television broadcast in Europe.  As the Public Relations Officer for the Beacon Insurance Co. Ltd, his future goals include the realization of a new international standard cycling facility and development programme.

Michael has also been involved in the Guardian Make a Difference program, which is a motivational speaking series for secondary school students. All of his presentations include an environmental message as part of the overall self-development programme. He recently received a special award from the City of Port- of- Spain for his contribution to sport & youth development.

When we focus on the artistic side to Michael Phillips, we see an artist who, to date, has successfully produced 6 solo art exhibitions and participated in numerous group shows.  On three occasions, he was commissioned by companies in Trinidad and Barbados to produce artwork for their calendars.

In solo wildlife exhibitions such as “Finding Sanctuary” and “Vanishing Treasures”, he extended beyond local subject matter and also featured threatened and endangered species from around the world, deriving inspiration from international travel and local rainforests.

It is Michael’s belief that through art, greater appreciation for environment conservation could be achieved.
