Sarah Beckett was born in England, and received her art training
in France and then England, gaining her degree in Mural Design at
Chelsea School of Art, London England.
Beckett began her career as an artist in Trinidad, West Indies.
She has exhibited extensively across Europe,The Far East and
Trinidad. Her work is found in many public collections, including
Republic Bank and Barbados Mutual Assurance Co. Trinidad, The
London Labour Museum and Inter-Continental Bank London.
Beckett's work has been featured in the Amoco Art Collection
Book,Trinidad W.I. The Women Artists Diary, England, and Women In
Art 2000 Book, Trinidad, W.I. among others. Her paintings have
been reproduced as Calendars, Diaries, Greeting Cards and Posters
in Trinidad, England and the USA. She has designed theatre sets in
England and produced costumes and floats for the Netting Hill Gate
Carnival in London. In 2000 she was chosen to design the Christmas
stamps for the Trinidad & Tobago Postal Service. Recently she
decorated The Maracas Bay Restaurant, 'Bandanya'.
In
2001, Beckett and John Vanneste, concert pianist, formed Polyphony
an alliance for creative collaboration. Together they stage
art/music events which they present twice a year.
Beckett now lives and works in Trinidad. |
