Marielle’s
inclination to arts was apparent from childhood. She pursued
Visual Art diligently at Bishops Anstey High School up to the
Advanced Level (Cambridge) where she attained distinctions in
all of her portfolios. While studying Management at the
University of the West Indies, Mona campus she continued
developing her skill on her own and with guidance from her
mother, artist Angelica Barrow, during semester breaks.
On returning to
Trinidad she worked briefly in the Hospitality Industry before
resigning to pursue her dream of a career in the Arts. Marielle
has been painting full-time since September 2003. She has
continued studies with a postgraduate diploma in Arts & Cultural
Enterprise Management and an Mphil in Cultural Studies. Thus far
she has shown in London, St. Lucia, Barbados, Guyana, Nassau,
Bahamas, National Art Gallery of Trinidad and Tobago and Hilton
Hotels. Often exhibitions are done in conjunction with her
mother Angelica Barrow.
Marielle works
mostly with acrylic medium but also with pencil, watercolors and
oils. She paints what she terms ‘dancescapes’: emotional
landscapes pictured through choreographies of dance on canvas.
As an artist and dancer Marielle is able to blend her passions
and create a truer picture of her modes of interaction and
appreciation of the world. |
